DESIGN & PLANNING
Dr Simon Oldham approached us to design a new squat practice in a high street location in Hertford town. It was an empty shell of over 2500sq/ft on the ground floor, enabling Dr Oldham to start the new dental practice from scratch.
We were able to introduce a layout plan that provided a ‘hidden decon’ concept. This design kept nurse movement separate from the waiting area and corridor to optimise flow and efficiency. The practice was complete with a CBCT room, plant room, storage, staff room, bin store, 4 surgeries, TCO, reception, waiting and a disabled WC.
The wooden slat feature in the waiting area provides the perfect subtle screen to break up the corridor without being obtrusive.
We completed technical designs, building control and interior design.
BUILDING WORKS
The build and fit-out was completed within a 14-week program from start to finish and was met within schedule.
A regular rhythm of meetings was established to ensure decisions were made when appropriate to keep communication flow strong.
We were delighted to project manage all elements of the project, using our own team of tradesmen throughout for a seamless one-stop-shop solution.
This minimised the involvement and time investment needed by the client who was busy clinically at the other practice, too busy to manage a squat practice!
EQUIPMENT & CABINETRY
Two of the four surgeries were fitted out initially, with the remaining two ready to be equipped in future. High quality equipment and cabinetry was installed throughout. The client had previous positive experiences with Belmont Cleo II chairs, Belmont touch x-rays and chose these again for their surgeries. A Cattani AC200 compressor and Cattani Turbosmart suction pump were chosen for their reliability. The practice has facility for a changeover system in future for back-up in emergencies.
Solid surface worktops, handle-free frontals and plinth lighting gave the cabinetry within the surgeries the added elegance.
A bespoke solid surface reception desk was designed and installed by our joinery team.
